Yesterday; 5th of May – Liberation Day in Holland (bevrijdingsdag)

Totally forgot to mention to you that we had Liberation Day in Holland yesterday…..

Probably you know the story; there where mean Germans in 1940-1945….. they wanted to make Holland one of their little provinces….. Our English – American – Canadian friends showed up =>  and they sent those Germans back to their country. As punishment they divided Germany……
But okay; 5th of May is called Bevrijdingsdag in Holland – which means “Liberation Day”.
I think that one of the wierd parts is; it is not a public holiday……. DUH…..
Our Government “advices”  the company to give a day off once in 5 years…..
Extremely wierd……… maybe we get punished for the fact dat the English – American – Canadians where not able to “do their job within a year”….?? We have to do the burden of 4 years work – and then 1 year not…??

We have so many wierd public holidays – and then the 5th of May is NOT one…….

But okay – first I went to the hospital; my little brother’s wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl; Joyce…!!

Also had to congratulate my cat with her birthday; and the cat is called…??? ==> SJELTUR

After that – I went to the music festival in the city…. a bit late…. so was only able to see 2 bands….
Last band was called  “Kraak & Smaak” – nice funky music – and they are even a bit known in the USA = at least perezhilton.com does write about them….. and extremely positive……
Yep – great band to watch !!

  1. The division of Germany after World War II wasn’t really a punishment. The Allies decided to divide Germany in
military occupation zones, but this was primarily for
administrative purposes. It was the start of the Cold War that brought the division of West- and East-Germany, the
American, British and French zones merged to form the Federal Republic of Germany and the Soviet zone
    became the German Democratic Republic.

Btw, a better translation for “bevrijdingsdag” is “liberation day”.

  2. Was more trying to be a smart-*ss with the dividing comment…..
Do countries ever get punished for attacking another one (or more)..??

I have been reading the article a couple of times (before posting) and I was sure the Liberty Day was wrong; but couldn’t get up with a correct one. And was to tired to really search for it….
    Thanx – I changed it…. ;)
