I know; probably you all think “the Dutch are way to Liberal”…..

So – you can imagine how my feelings where with the “Michael Phelps-affaire”….. => for the people who don’t know – Michael Phelps won 8 Gold Medals at the 2008 Olympics. BUT – the bad boy was using WEED…. Well; the bad part was – someone took a picture of him smoking a weed pipe and the picture got published…. So; the USA Swimming (some kind of sport union..??) suspended him for 3 months… because of the fact that he should give a good example…..

But this week in Holland; in a nearby city – a “big soccer player” got caught by the police for driving DRUNK……Mr. Popov of SC Heerenveen.
And what happened with him?
Seems like he does not have to give a good examples – he did play last night (he even made a goal…… ). The coach said; “I am separating private life from work”

I had the opinion that the USA Swimming was not to be decided about this… BUT; yep – it was an illegal act in the USA….
But letting Popov play…?? That is for sure a bad judgment of his coach – but also from SC Heerenveen.
On the other hand; maybe the coach is right and it is not his (or SC Heenenveen) job to judge about Popov his behavior…? If so; the USA Swimming was also “out of line”….

(btw; Michael Phelps also got caught with drunk and drive in 2004)

But yeah; I don’t have any problems with people smoking weed/pot. But putting other people in danger while drunk and drive…. UNACCEPTABLE…
