No webfilter from EU to Iran
Isn’t this the biggest kind of hypocrisy..??
If you are working on a way to “filter the internet†– so people are not able to find some kind of content…and meanwhile also working on a law – which will forbid companies to deliver a webfilter to Iran…..
This does sound really strange uh..?
In the days of “freedom of speech†in combination with discrimination – but also subject like “child pornographyâ€â€¦ these subjects are an hot item.
Yep – our Dutch Government is working on a filter to make sure that people are not able to find child pornography….
Which seems to be a good thing….. because that kind of pornography is bad…..!
But uh… also is;
- drink and drive…. => next step – ban alcohol?
- speeding – not breaking in time – cause a (deathly) accident => next step – electronic speed limitation on cars?
- by law – we are not allowed to speak “bad about our Queenâ€â€¦. => next step – filter EVERYTHING we say….and send the police once we notice a sentence with the words “Queen – Beatrix – bitchâ€â€¦??
Yep – Sjeltur is AGAINST such a filter…… I do not need that kind of OVER protection of our Government…
And my next step; who the f*ck do they think they are – to ask for such a filter and forbid companies to deliver *such* a filter to a “bad countryâ€â€¦..
Very hypocrite uh…??

This is one of those you are dammed if you do dammed if you don’t situations. The government needs to protect the people of there country.
But should we be protected at all costs…??
Personally I think it is very scary if a Government is starting to filter the internet…. soon we have to change the WorldWideWeb before sjeltur.nl; www(with exceptions).sjeltur.nl
or
http://www(but we left out a little part).grampyandyou.com/grampy
It’s a slippery slope. Filtering content will affect legit websites and generally open the door to even scarier legislation.
@mike o -> you are right about that – that is why I have big doubts about the whole “filtering”….soon WorldWideWeb will be “the web as your Government it wants to be”…..
I don’t know why the concept of banning is ganning more grounds in many places today? We’re supposed to know what’s right from what’s wrong plus this might be abused like banning all sites that “don’t share you with your opnion” for example becuase “you don’t like them”!
When it comes to child pornography, it’s something different because it’s a discrimination aganist kids that should definetly be banned; it’s about ‘morals’ but other stuff about ‘opinions’
ugh!
@Hicham – thanks for your reaction.
Seems like the Governments do not like the fact that people are able to “know more” and are getting more “independent”….
As for the child pornography…. I do agree with banning – but that should happen via “catching those bastards”…
A filter is going to do something like what I wrote in the following article (who decides what is – child – pornography…?);
