China biggest internet nation
China has surpassed the United States as the biggest net nation in the world. According to statistics from the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) more than 253 million people are online in China. According to Nielsen Online, the number of people online in the US is 223 million. The number of Chinese people online grew 56% in just a year, and by 2012 about 490 million people will be online.
The internet penetration in China is still not high, though. Right now it’s about 19%, in the US it stands at 71%. China has a long way to go to beat countries like The Netherlands and Norway. The internet penetration in these countries is 88%.
