Ach ja – dit is toch wel even grappig; het zal je maar gebeuren => ga je echt even bij Siri langs!!

Toch een beetje eng uh….?
Vorige week las ik een bericht, via GetClicky.com, over Google en hun tracking gegevens.

In het heel kort; homepage eigenaren/beheerders maken vaak gebruik van een programma om hun bezoekers te tracken. Dus; ik kan zien met welk ip adres een bezoeker op MijniPad.net komt;

• uit welk land komen mijn bezoekers
• welk artikel wordt (het meest) gelezen)
• HOE komen ze binnen – rechtstreeks of via een andere homepage
• komen ze via Google zoekmachine binnen – welke zoekwoorden hebben ze dan gebruikt?

En het klinkt raar; maar die zoekwoorden zijn zeer belangrijk voor ‘ons’.
Zo kan ik zien wat mijn bezoekers belangrijk vinden en wat voor vragen ze eigenlijk over de iPad hebben.
Zo is het mij duidelijk dat de artikelen over ‘apps verwijderen’ en ‘ipad handleiding’ vaak worden bezocht via Google.
MAAR ook zag ik voorbij komen ‘ipad muziek verwijderen’.
Dit kon met de oude iOS op de o{ad niet – dus – heb ik daar ook maar een post over geschreven.
En deze post aangevuld, op het moment dat het wel mogelijk was.
Dus; die artikelen zijn er gekomen – omdat ik zag dat dat ‘vragen aan Google waren’.

Maar okay; het bericht van GetClicky.com; Google heeft laten weten aan hun concollega trackers dat ‘als een gebruiker bij Google is ingelogd – er geen gegevens meer bij komen te staan, waarin de zoekwoorden zijn vermeld’.
Kort gezegd; ik ben met mijn Gmail ingelogd – ik ga op Google zoeken naar ‘handleiding ipad’ – klik op artikel van MijniPad.net => wordt er weergegeven dat ik binnen ben gekomen met zoekwoorden ‘unknown’.

Dat is een mooie manier van Google om hun Concollega’s uit te schakelen – want Google biedt zelf Analystics aan (als tracker).

Maar wat schetste mijn verbazing gisteren..?
Ik ben, op mijn WERK computer (ander ip adres, dan thuis) op een bepaald woord aan het zoeken; terwijl ik via Gmail ben ingelogd bij Google.
Kom ik thuis en heb dus ook ingelogd bij Gmail….., ga aan het surfen en wat schetst mijn verbazing; zie ik allemaal banners van Google voorbij komen die referreren naar het woord waar ik op het werk naar aan het zoeken was.

Dus; Google zet niet alleen een cookie op je computer – zij houden ook bij (via jouw LogIn) per gebruiker waar ze naar zoeken en confronteren de gebruiker ook op een andere plek/plaats met die zoekopdrachten.

Dat is een echte; BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU….., ten koste van de concurrentie!

I know I know – I really start to sound boring….
No posts…. – just announcing a Dutch website about the iPad…..

And yep – that one also kept me busy A LOT…
But it also “paid off”……. as, just within a couple of months, this website grew from zero to a couple of hundreds visitors daily.
WHICH made me decide to also make an English version…!

Not a lot of writing on this weblog lately….!
And why..??

Mmmmmh…. no idea…. maybe nothing interesting to mention…??
Ah well…..hopefully the “inspirition” will come back soon.
And that is also why I am writing this one…..; to see if this will help me to get back to writing stuff on sjeltur.nl.

Lately I have been busy with my new little hobby; the iPad….
I bought one during my trip in the USA – after coming back – I also decided to make a new weblog; www.mijnipad.net => in which I am writing about all the apps etc I am using on/with my iPad. It is writen in Dutch – BUT I did put a Google translation button on it also….. SO… maybe you are able to figure out “what I am writing about”…..

The value of Apple went higher than Microsoft……
That still does not make apple a nice company uh..??

As you, maybe, know; the Dutch are not able to buy an iPad at the moment…. We even do not know when it will be available in Holland.

What happens; some people go to the USA and buy an extra iPad – which they will try to sell in Holland.We have our own kind of eBay – called “Marktplaats” (Marketplace – and it is also owned by eBay)….
In all honesty; people are asking ridiculous price… but okay – if a fool is willing to pay such an amount…

But now;
people who put there iPad on Marktplaats – are receiving a message from Marktplaats in which is stating that Apple is NOT ALLOWING people to sell an iPad via Marktplaats in Holland…
Reason; something with intellectual ownership – blah blah blah.
Some people already received a letter from lawyers of Apple….uh….WHAT..??

I really think this is an extremely weird act of Apple; Apple is not able to provide us the iPad…. so we start searching for it….. We buy it…..which makes us the owner of a little piece of electronic….. which makes us also able to say “I don’t want it – I want to sell it”….
Whatever the reason of “I don’t want it” may be….

Did Apple even hear about “free trade” “free market”…..?

Once I am passing the customs in Holland – maybe even with paying extra tax and duties; I make this article “free of trade within the European Community”….

A real weird act of Apple….. very arrogant……

It has been all over the news…. and also on “all the blogs”….. the newborn child of Apple; the iPad….

All kinds of positive news…
- the looks
- very handy
- not toooo expensive
All kinds of negative news…..
- no multitasking..??
- what is new about it – my netbook can do the same LESS EXPENSIVE

But that is not going to be my topic….
I am wondering; we all remember the lawsuit of the EU against  Microsoft.
Since that lawsuit – it is all clear; Microsoft is not allowed to “just make their own browser (IE) the main browser in their operating system”….
All of a sudden; Microsoft is forced to also offer software of the competition.

And now the iPad…
(and yep – also the iPhone); Apple is talking about the “apps” you can install….
But did you know that developers of the “apps” are not allowed to make a new musicplayer…. and are also not allowed to make another browser or email client…?
Developers are not allowed to make a new (and maybe even better) version of an installed Apple apps….
Did you hear that right Microsoft…. ?Also NOT ANOTHER BROWSER….!

And what is with that weird word “APPS”..??
Apps is just another popular word for SOFTWARE….
But till now; it was only on “a phone”….. next step is an Apple computer….
(yep – we can call it an iPad or tablet; but it is just another computer)

So; in about 60 days – millions of people are going to buy an “another computer”….. but they will not be allowed to just put their own software on it….
It will all be controlled by Apple…. and Apple alone !!

My guess (and hopes); Apple is facing a lawsuit within the EU…..
(and otherwise; Microsoft should quit putting Firefox and Safari in their operating system)

Today I did receive an email from Google… well from “Your Google Team”…… – in which they write;

Really nice uh..??

Well; IF YOU ARE ABLE READ WHERE THE LINK IS BRINGING YOU.

I have no idea how they did it; but on my iPhone – the link brought me to the same kind of screen; but with another language….
My girlfriend was telling me it is Danish..
And I guarantee you; my Google settings are not in Danish – neither are the settings on my iPhone

So – really nice of Google to give away 20 million dollar…. but looking this link; I am worried the organisations mentioned in the lower part of the screen are not getting their money…. as it seems hard for Google to bring important messages/things to the correct person….

(of course I am just kidding about the last line; I really think Google is doing a good job !!)

Yesterday there was an interesting topic, in one of those consumer programs, on the national tv in Holland……
They where talking about Apple and their behavior with “warranty”.

We have a nice rule/law in Holland; the manufacturer can put a warranty term on their product – but the “how long the warranty should be”is depending on what is reasonable….

For example; the manufacturer could say “our tv will have a warranty for 3 months” – but that could not be reasonable!
So – probably – you bought a 500 euro tv and after a year your tv has a defect; our law will say “you MAY expect a tv of 500 euro to run longer than (for example) 2 years…. – so the tv should be covered”.
But if the tv was only 50 euro… our law probably would say “yeah – DUH…. that cheap….!!”

So; Apple is telling us on every product; “Apple’s Limited Warranty overs your Apple product for one year.”

BUT; that is absolutely not a reasonable time… – so a computer should have a warranty for about 5 years and an iPod for about 3 years….

And that is where the fights are starting in Holland; Apple Holland is just telling the consumers to “get the extra Apple Care package”….!

In all honesty – I do not think that Apple is acting reasonable with this one;
I am spending 900 euro on an iPhone… and JUST 1 year warranty…? (while a cheaper cell phone of Sony Ericsson has 2 years of warrently)
I am spending 130 euro on an iPod…..and JUST 1 year warranty…? (while, for example, Philips is giving 2 years warranty an a WAY CHEAPER mp3 player)

So – not only overpriced – also “low warranty”….. BUT… in Holland – the law is on the consumer side…!

In Europe we have this nice discussion about Windows 7.
As you probably know; Microsoft had some problems with Neelie Kroes about their monopolistic behavior regarding Internet Explorer. Neelie thinks that Microsoft is not allowed to make an Operating System including their own web browser…..
Well okay; they are allowed to do so – BUT then they should also offer the browsers of competitors.

So; Microsoft did change their Windows 7 and people will see a list of browser and they can install the OS of their choice on Windows 7.
Nice uh..??

Well Mozilla Firefox is not totally agreeing; they think it is not fair to make the list in alphabetical order – now Apple Safari will be first on the list….
They would like; the biggest browser first, BUT Windows Explorer should be last => as they already got earned a lot of users in an "unfair way"!
Which would give Firefox the first spot.

Pffff – I am a huge fan of Firefox; I would not even know where I can find the Explorer icon on my Windows machine…. BUT – I really do think this is a childish behavior of Firefox…

Personally I do think it is Windows their own Operating System and they should be allowed to put just their own web browser on it…

Just like the company Apple does; buy an Apple computer – you can only use the Apple software and the Apple browser….
Same as the Apple iPhone; Safari is installed and Apple even has the rule that competition of existing software on the iPhone is NOT ALLOWED.
Which makes me wonder; why is Neelie after Windows and not after Apple…?
Just because Windows is bigger?

Earlier this blog brought you a story about possible developments in computer technology and music in the future. With increasing computer capabilities it might be possible one day the computer produces music that’s good by human standards. It was mentioned that new algorithms inspired by nature might be used for this, evolutionary techniques improving the quality of a new music piece over time. There is already an example of this approach on the web and you can participate!

It’s called Evolectronica, breeding electronic music. Here it’s not about evolving new sounds, but the evolution of the music itself. Evolectronica starts by building audio loops from randomly chosen sounds and effects. These loops are streamed over the internet to the audio player of a listener. Because the computer is not capable (yet) to determine what’s really good or not, the listener can give his or her opinion which loops are liked or disliked.
