Blackbird; another color – another browser
Maybe this post is going to be a bit "controversial"- I have no idea…. But I will just start……
Via the blogspot of Kenyanguru I came to this new browser….. Blackbird.
Real nice name – seems like a nice browser (still Beta). I will give it a try – that is for sure….
BUT; how they describe this browser…. mmmmh
"Blackbird is the web browser for the African American Community"
The WHAT…??
Ooh I can imagine the wish for such a browser and I can also imagine that African Americans have other interest then African Europeans. And as they mention in the blog; "highlight an aspect of Black culture"
But it sounds soooo…. soooo….. wrong….!
And why exactly..?? I have no idea…. maybe because it sounds like separating the different races?
And this is not something I want or support; but what if there was a browser out there for the Northern European Community which is highlighting some aspects of the White culture…?? Or the American Community with the white aspects….?? Little joke now; that would mean that Klu Klux Klan is able to develop a web browser..?? Nah – that would be fiction…..
But okay – even on their own blog they are talking about this – but they guarantee they are NOT excluding people…
I have some mixed feelings about the description of such a browser…. what would you think of a "Whitebird"….??
Likely there will be an uproar if you launch a browser called “Whitebird” and it “highlights an aspect of White culture”, especially if you use a capital “W” in ‘white’…
It’s a double standard…
Check out http://www.whitebirdbrowser.com. It’s brilliantly put together.
@Ed Young – yep – I had some fun looking at this…
btw – I didn’t realize I have been using the whitebirdbrowser before…
