Apple; iPad should face lawsuit..??

Sorry – I am also doing it… I am also going to talk about “IT”….
It has been all over the news…. and also on “all the blogs”….. the newborn child of Apple; the iPad….
(weird name uh..??)

All kinds of positive news…
- the looks
- very handy
- not toooo expensive
All kinds of negative news…..
- no multitasking..??
- what is new about it – my netbook can do the same LESS EXPENSIVE

But that is not going to be my topic….
I am wondering; we all remember the lawsuit of the EU against  Microsoft.
Since that lawsuit – it is all clear; Microsoft is not allowed to “just make their own browser (IE) the main browser in their operating system”….
All of a sudden; Microsoft is forced to also offer software of the competition.

And now the iPad…
(and yep – also the iPhone); Apple is talking about the “apps” you can install….
But did you know that developers of the “apps” are not allowed to make a new musicplayer…. and are also not allowed to make another browser or email client…?
Developers are not allowed to make a new (and maybe even better) version of an installed Apple apps….
Did you hear that right Microsoft…. ?Also NOT ANOTHER BROWSER….!

And what is with that weird word “APPS”..??
Apps is just another popular word for SOFTWARE….
But till now; it was only on “a phone”….. next step is an Apple computer….
(yep – we can call it an iPad or tablet; but it is just another computer)

So; in about 60 days – millions of people are going to buy an “another computer”….. but they will not be allowed to just put their own software on it….
It will all be controlled by Apple…. and Apple alone !!

My guess (and hopes); Apple is facing a lawsuit within the EU…..
(and otherwise; Microsoft should quit putting Firefox and Safari in their operating system)

  1. The difference here is that Microsoft are pretty much a monopoly when it comes to PC operating systems.

Apple, despite what most of the US seems to think, is still quite a small minority when it comes to phones, especially in Europe where it doesn’t enjoy as much success as the US.

  2. Thanx for reacting Chinaren….
But shouldn’t those rules/laws followed by everyone..?
So – let’s hope (for Apple) the iPad will not be a huge success – otherwise they will have to change their browser/email setup…

Maybe the sales of the iPhones are not as big as in the USA; but in my country the iPhone is making between the 80 and 90 procent of all the mobile phone internet data….!! (in the USA 55% – with second place Android with 20% and the rest way smaller)
    So – in a way – this does sound like a monopoly….!!

  3. ha ha ha, the tagline was cool
and otherwise; Microsoft should quit putting Firefox and Safari in their operating system

I really never thought about the situation from this perspective, and yes u r right – Apple can face a lawsuit

  4. “but in my country the iPhone is making between the 80 and 90 procent of all the mobile phone internet data….!!”

Ah, but that’s doesn’t mean that other phones don’t offer internet surfing ability! I’m sure there are plenty of others that do it, but, for whatever reason, iPhone users just go online more!

So you could buy any number of Nokias, Ericssons, Motorola’s etc and go online, but apparently people with these phones don’t.

The point is, unlike the PC OS market, there are plenty of alternatives to the iPhone, thank God. I personally wouldn’t touch one. I mean it’s a nice phone, but the stats are *years* out of date!

Anyway, the iPhone isn’t a monopoly like Microsoft’s system. The market is totally different in these cases.

  5. Aaaah – you do see it as the product “phone”…..
    We are looking at it a bit different;
    I see it as – like computers – a phone WITH software….
(As Apple would probably find it insulting to see the iPhone as just a phone…)
I do own a little handy computer – which is also able to make phone calls = but I am not allowed to change the safari browser into internet explorer…

Ok – with phones… mmmmh – you could (or are) right…
But with this new computer product iPad; I do think Apple should get problems !!
